OUR STORY

Over the Generations

Hobby Horse Farm is a privately owned stable operated by the Wade family. Located in the heart of the Annapolis Valley, the farm consists of 550+ acres nestled within the south mountain. It is a beautiful setting with wooded trails, streams, a waterfall and lush fields.

For nearly sixty years, the Wade family was involved in the breeding of Morgan horses, raising over one hundred foals during that period. George Wade, the farm’s founder, was very dedicated to the promotion of the Morgan breed. The present Nova Scotia Morgan Horse Show had its origins at the farm with annual field days starting in 1966 and continuing until 1977.

Although the farm activities have slowed somewhat over the years, we carry on our father’s legacy by allowing others to enjoy this special property. Various horse events are hosted during the summer fall period including shows, clinics and occasional pony club camps. Hiking and riding groups also come to enjoy our lovely trails with some groups renting the farm house for an extended stay.
